Anaesthetics

Dentists now have a choice of anesthetics they can choose to use. Some are good for short, simple procedures and only last for 30-60 minutes while others can last up to 8 hours. These are useful for extractions.

Our practice has Articaine available, the latest anaesthetic which has the properties of working faster and producing deeper states of numbness than were possible before.

Its smaller molecule penetrates soft tissue and bone more successfully than other anaesthetics, thus helping overcome problems with difficult teeth which don’t numb as well with other anesthetics.

If you are interested please discuss your  anaesthetics with your dentist. We also can provide relative analgesia (nitrous oxide) to help relax you, or a general anaesthetic if you feel you would rather be asleep. (See Sedation (for the nervous))
