Anaesthetics
Dentists now have a choice of anaesthetics they can choose to use. Some are good for short, simple procedures and only last for 30-60 minutes, while others can last up to 8 hours. These are useful for extractions.
Our practice now uses Articaine the latest anaesthetic which has the properties of working faster and producing deeper states of numbness than were possible before. Its smaller molecule penetrates soft tissue and bone more successfully than other anaesthetics thus helping over come problems with difficult teeth which don’t numb well with other anesthetics.
If you are interested please discuss anaesthetics with your dentist. We also can provide relative analgesia (nitrous oxide) to help relax you, or a general anaesthetic if you feel you would rather be asleep. (See laughing gas and general anaesthetics)
